1) THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?
As an avid artist, it had always been a dream of mine to make an impact on people around me through my work. Recently, I was able to fundraise over $300 for a food bank through selling my artwork, and soon after, I launched the Art Shine Foundation, which is a youth-led organization that aims to amplify the voices of youth artists. This is definitely the best thing in the last 12 months, because I’m literally fulfilling my dreams!

2) THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?
As a high school student, it is extremely difficult dealing with the pandemic. Most of my plans got cancelled, national tournaments I qualified for were cancelled, and a wave of loneliness began to hit me because of having to socially distance. Creating artwork and building an organization has definitely kept my mind off of things, but I can’t wait till some sense of normalcy is established once again.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?
I hope that in the near future, once this situation is resolved, I’m able to travel again. Having been to 17 countries, travelling is at the heart of my life, and not being able to do so is really frustrating. Additionally, I want to see ASF grow and have an even greater impact on youth in my community and around the world. Lastly, as an activist, I want to see greater equality and amity amongst people around the world.

4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?
A worry I have for the future is not being able to juggle doing so many things at once in the midst of a pandemic. Anxiety has struck a deep chord with me during these unsettling times and thinking about what the future may entail always manages to scare me.

5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMAN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE?
Some women who I truly admire are Senator Manka Dhingra, Sarah Raza, and Jasmine Dailida. I only mentioned a few, but there are so many more incredible women who have inspired me throughout my life!

6) A ONE-SENTENCE MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN?
Be the woman who fixes another woman’s crown without telling the world it was crooked.
