1) & 2) THE BEST AND WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

The best and worst thing in the last year were one in the same for me: when my life fell apart and it forced me to put the pieces back together. At that point in time, my partner broke up with me, I took a sudden leave of absence from college, and I was physically unwell. Afterwards, I dedicated myself to focusing on health and wellness. I am currently trying my best to learn about myself, my interests, what I want to do with my life, and how to be happy and healthy while doing it.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

I only wish to become the healthiest version of myself, and to help those around me to do the same. I’m not at a point where I can say I’m on track to accomplish all of my goals, let alone to even set new goals. The only thing I can wish for is health and happiness for me, and anyone I can bestow it upon.

4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

Our world is on fire, both figuratively and literally. I’m worried that the work of indiginous people, activists, and youth will not be enough to save the world from destruction. If we want to sustain our population, we need systematic change to dismantle the oppressive and environmentally destructive systems in place.

5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMAN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE?

Everyday, when I doubt myself, I ask “what would Jameela Jamil do?” and the answer guides me to be the best activist I can be. Jamil’s advocacy of body neutrality and the term “feminist in progress” are abosultely inspiring to me. I hope that everyone gets a chance to look at her work on the @i_weigh account and her other activism.

6) A ONE-SENTENCE MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN?

Take care of yourself; you deserve the best, so make sure to stand up for yourself and advocate for your own needs.
