1) THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

Founding my own company and safety app Safe Squad. It’s one thing to have a dream but it’s another to implement it. For me it’s been no easy feet but I am proud to say that I’ve done it despite my naysayers and obstacles I’ve encountered along the way.

2) THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

I've let stress get the best of me at times by focusing too much on work and not enough on self care. As a result of this and experiencing my first NYC winter, I ended up getting Bronchitis which lasted a few months. Now I recognize balance is integral to success and the importance of setting aside personal time.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

My ultimate goal is to spread awareness for Safe Squad and help as many individuals in vulnerable settings as possible. For some, final success is a goal. At the end of the day, it’s about helping others. To me, safety is a fundamental right, and there should be no cost associated with it. It is something that should be available despite one’s socioeconomic background and status.

4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

That people will use my personal experience regarding being a survivor against me, in a negative way.

5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMAN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE?

There’s so many great women whom I admire, but if I had to pick one I’d choose activist/ actress Gina Rodriguez for her strides in gaining representation in the media for the latinx community.

6) A ONE-SENTENCE MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN

Pursue your goals fully, show your passion to the public, and know that you have the power to spur a positive change.
