Talking Beauty, Inside & Out : @martinadavidson__

1) THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

Focusing on what I’m capable of and on who I am. Trusting my creativity, taking responsibility for my words.

I've managed to stay true to myself, which has often been a great challenge.

As paradoxical as it may sound, the pandemic has helped me with this. And getting older, too.

I'm very grateful for this year. Most of all for being surrounded by beautiful, warm-hearted people who have inspired and sustained me.

I hope I have been and will be able to give back to them.

2) THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

Struggling with homeschooling.

Especially knowing what an incredibly private situation my family and I are in

and yet have spent so many days over the last few years despairing over this situation.

To Have lost a person who was very important in my life,

without being able to say goodbye.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

That we manage to talk to each other in a better way again and really listen to each other.

Because we cannot cope with the great challenges we face in any other way.

I wish that we manage to stay gentle, with ourselves and with others.

And that we have the courage to speak out when we need to.

4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

The lack of empathy and understanding for each other.

Coldness and unkindness in our daily interactions.

Speechlessness.

5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMAN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE?

There are so many, there would not be enough space here.

I admire my daughter for her unwavering optimism and her strength to see the good in every situation. For her belief in herself.

My friends for all that they are, especially for their big hearts and warmth.

And all women who are not in the front row, who don't get any applause for what they do and create for others. All over the world. They have my utmost respect.

6) A ONE-SENTENCE MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN?

Keep your open heart and your eye for beauty.

That is, what makes us human.

Stand by your vulnerability: I believe it is our strongest power.
