1) THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

Just about 12 months ago I found an amazing yoga teacher. That might not sound like a lot, but he has truly changed my life. He has led me onto this amazing (joyful as well as scary) journey of self-discovery.

2) THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

Brexit craziness. As a migrant in the UK, this whole Brexit shambles makes my future here precarious. And as someone who’s lived and established a life here for 15 years, that’s pretty scary. Obviously Brexit itself hasn’t actually happened yet, and there’s still time to stop it. I’m doing my best.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

That we get the climate crisis under control. Need I say more?!

4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

I guess it depends on what you define as ‘near’. Based on the above, my biggest worry for the near future would be Brexit, for the slightly less near (but still very near) future climate crisis. For the super near future it’s more like: can I really fall asleep at 10 so I can get up at 5.30?!!

5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMAN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE?

Silvia Federici. She’s an italian-American scholar writing on feminism and neo-colonialism amongst other things. She’s pretty bad-ass.

6) A ONE-SENTENCE MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN?

The climate crisis is a feminist issue, inequality is a feminist issue, racism is a feminist issue, workers’ rights is a feminist issue. Basically what I’m trying to say is that women (and people in general) lose out if we don’t take action to improve the world. So let’s do it - we have a lot more power than we think we do!
