ANGELIKA

Angelika | Photographer | Photography, my family, my cats and dog, my garden, connecting with nature and with like minded people, cooking, yoga and spiritual practices | France, the Bearn, which belongs to the Pyrenees Atlantique

FIRST PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU DO/ YOUR ART/ PROJECT/ ACTIVISM/ SUBJECTS CLOSE TO YOUR HEART RELATED TO THAT:

My special passion project is my published book, I AM - celebrating The Perfect Imperfect, where I photographed 121 women over the age of 40 up to 99. 121 nude portraits and testimonials revealing the inner and outer beauty of the so-called “Mature” women. By making them/us visible we question beauty standards, the beauty myth, to move forward with more self-love and acceptance, diversity and inclusion in a judgement free Zone.

1) THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

I started my career as a photographer in Frankfurt at the age of 23, a few years later I moved to Paris, where I lived and worked in advertising, beauty, fashion and for international magazines. I got married to a photographer and our 2 kids were born. At one point we decided to follow the call and move to the US/NYC where we spent 8 years before we decided that our spirit and soul is more European and moved back to France, the Southwest this time, which is a stunning location. I' m very happy to be back, my soul just did not feel american enough to stay there forever.

2) THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

I fell (stupidly) and I broke my right leg (the fibura), that meant surgery and 6 long weeks without putting one leg on the ground, now actually I am working on this foot to get back to normal, still quite a challenge. As a very active always on the move woman, this told me patience though and I appreciate the time-out.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE? To stay healthy and get settled in our new environment. 4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE? Let mankind learn out of past mistakes and evolve to a better world and life on this beautiful planet, let’s protect Mother Earth in Love and Light 5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMAN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE? I do not have one woman, I love all the women known or unknown, who fight for their rights on a daily basis, who challenge their dreams and live their passions, who share the love for a more peaceful planet in harmony with all living beings.

Me myself, I feel I am self-made!;-) 6) A ONE-SENTENCE MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN?

A sentence I quoted in my book "I AM" in the opening pages by Wayne Dyer: "I AM- two of the most powerful words, for what you put after them shapes your reality."

THE WORLD KEEPS CHANGING DRAMATICALLY: HOW ARE YOU COPING?

Since we moved to the countryside I am much more attached and connected to nature and healthy living and being surrounded by people living a more healthy lifestyle, so much less about over-consummation. Covid has changed our way to live with a tendency "Back to family , back to home". I think this will stay with us, besides all the injustice and atrocities, that mankind has still not learned.

WHICH CHANGE OR EVENT HAS AFFECTED YOU THE MOST / HAD THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON YOU PERSONALLY?

The war in Ukraine, becoming so close and affecting us all. After living post war in kind of a European peace bubble it shows how the whole world is connected and that one country shifting can be dangerous.

Climat change is real, it’s manmade. I think mankind still underestimates the consequences and changes that will happen in the very close future. Change has to come faster, no time to loose. Everyone has to do what he/she can to help even if it means to step out of our so-called comfort zone

9) WHAT ARE YOU THE MOST CONCERNED ABOUT AT THIS TIME? The world to find a new balance and peace, mankind to evolve!!;-)
